How a consultation works

Whether you already have some colors in mind or need to start from scratch I can help guide you towards a color scheme that is harmonious and appealing.

I start by looking at the rooms you would like painted. We would discuss any color ideas you may have, as well as concerns. If you have any color samples, pictures from magazines, fabrics, or other sources of color ideas I will look them over. I will ask you about the look and mood you would like to achieve in the room and how you feel about certain colors. The function of the room and the elements such as furniture, fabric and lighting are all taken into consideration

so that the color scheme is harmonious and all the elements of the room work together. If you don't know where to begin I can offer suggestions based on what you have told me to get things started. Getting a sense of your lifestyle and how the room will be used helps me to understand what may work best for you. I will then take digital photographs of the rooms and start the process of planning different color schemes for your rooms. Working with paint samples and a computer program that allows me to apply different colors to the walls and trim of the rooms in the photographs I see how the ideas we came up with actually look in the spaces.

Once we have narrowed down the choices to two or three color schemes I prepare sample boards that you can place in the rooms. It is important that you live with the colors for a few days, moving the samples around the room and noting how the colors look at different times during the day and how they look with the furnishings, rugs, and wall hangings.

During this process you will be able to better see what colors and tints you prefer and be able to eliminate the ones you don't. We will work together to hone down the colors that will best suit your desire and needs. The only requirement is to enjoy the process and let your creativity flow.
